This refined small Imari vase is part of the distinguished Imari Collection by Heinen Delfts Blauw, a line inspired by a remarkable 17th-century cultural exchange in which Japanese Imari decorations merged with traditional Delft blue. Designed by Is Lagendijk, the collection revives this historic fusion in a contemporary form, honouring both Eastern vibrancy and Dutch restraint.

Hand-painted in the Netherlands, the vase showcases a harmonious balance of classic Delft blue and rich Imari-inspired colours. Its compact, square silhouette makes it ideal for a delicate bouquet or as a standalone decorative accent on a shelf, table, or windowsill.

Rooted in a legacy that began with Jaap Heinen hand-painting vases at local markets, this piece reflects a family tradition where craftsmanship and innovation continue to thrive. Small in size yet rich in heritage, the vase is a timeless expression of color, culture, and artisanal skill.

Hand-painted in The Netherlands.

*Heinen Delfts Blauw*

Founded in 1975, Heinen Delfts Blauw represents a modern interpretation of Delftware, rooted in Dutch heritage but reimagined for contemporary living. Rather than replicating historic patterns, Heinen focuses on adapting traditional Delft motifs into new forms, scales, and compositions that feel relevant to modern interiors.

Each piece is hand-painted in the Netherlands using established Delft techniques, while the designs themselves are guided by a contemporary design vision. The result is Delftware that retains the recognisable language of blue-and-white tradition, yet feels lighter, cleaner, and more versatile in today’s spaces.

Heinen Delfts Blauw pieces celebrate the balance between tradition and modernity — where heritage informs design, but does not constrain it.

Handpainted Disclaimer

Each piece is individually hand-painted by skilled artisans. Subtle variations in colour, brushstroke, detailing, or glaze may occur and are inherent to the hand-painting process. These differences are considered a defining characteristic of authentic craftsmanship, not defects.

Note for Royal Delft Pieces: Artists are also given the creative freedom to introduce small details or interpretive elements within traditional motifs. These individual touches reflect the painter’s hand and experience, making every piece uniquely its own.
