*Royal Delft 1653*

Founded in 1653, Royal Delft is the last remaining factory in the Netherlands dedicated to the authentic art of Delftware. Each piece is meticulously hand-painted using centuries-old techniques, preserved and practiced in Delft to this day.

Royal Delft’s painters are among the most experienced in the world — many with decades of mastery, and some continuing to paint well into their seventies and eighties. Every object is painted entirely by hand by a single artisan, signed, and fired individually. Subtle variations in brushstroke, tone, and detail are a natural result of this human process and are considered an essential part of the piece’s character.

The legacy of this craftsmanship is preserved and celebrated at the Royal Delft Museum in Delft, where historic works, master paintings, and archival pieces trace the evolution of the art form over more than three centuries.

Handpainted Disclaimer

Each piece is individually hand-painted by skilled artisans. Subtle variations in colour, brushstroke, detailing, or glaze may occur and are inherent to the hand-painting process. These differences are considered a defining characteristic of authentic craftsmanship, not defects.

Note for Royal Delft Pieces: Artists are also given the creative freedom to introduce small details or interpretive elements within traditional motifs. These individual touches reflect the painter’s hand and experience, making every piece uniquely its own.
